The importance of supplication in Islam, conditions for acceptance, etiquette, and blessed times when prayers are answered.

Supplication (dua) is the most sincere expression of a servant's turning toward Allah and is considered the essence of worship in Islam. Almighty Allah states in Surah Ghafir: "Call upon Me; I will respond to you."

Certain etiquettes should be observed for supplication to be accepted. Being in a state of ablution, facing the qiblah, raising the hands, and beginning with praise of Allah and blessings upon the Prophet are among the basic etiquettes. Eating halal food and staying away from the forbidden are also important factors.

There are blessed times when supplication is accepted. The last third of the night, between the adhan and iqamah, during prostration, Friday afternoon, while it is raining, at the time of iftar, and on the Day of Arafah are among the primary times.

Every Muslim should develop the habit of regular supplication in their daily life. Morning and evening remembrances and supplications before and after meals bring blessings to our lives as practices of the Prophet. Supplication is the most powerful weapon of a Muslim.
