Khatm Prayer and Program at Eyup Sultan
12 February 2026 - Eyüp Sultan Camii

What is Hatim?
Hatim is the recitation of the Holy Quran from beginning to end. Muslims complete the Quran on various occasions and dedicate the reward to their loved ones or the souls of the deceased. Hatim programs organized at Eyüp Sultan Mosque are conducted both individually and collectively. The hatim prayer is a special prayer performed upon the completion of the entire Quran.
Hatim Programs
Regular hatim programs are conducted at Eyüp Sultan Mosque. During Ramadan, one juz is recited each day, completing the hatim in 30 days. Additionally, weekly and monthly hatim programs are also available. Collective hatim is also performed by distributing juz among the mosque congregation. After the morning prayer and before the afternoon prayer are the most common hatim recitation times.
Hatim Prayer Ceremony
After the completion of the hatim, a hatim prayer is performed. This prayer is usually led by the mosque's imam. The prayer includes acceptance of the Quran recitation, forgiveness for the reciters and listeners, remembrance of the deceased with mercy, and good wishes for all Muslims. It is a nice tradition to offer treats to participants after the hatim prayer.
Participation and Contact
Those who wish to participate in hatim programs or have a special hatim recited can contact the mosque administration. You can have a hatim recited for the souls of your deceased loved ones or have a gratitude hatim on special occasions. Hatim programs are free of charge, though charitable donations can be made. Separate hatim groups for women are also available.
