The importance Islam places on seeking knowledge, and information about the virtues of scholars and gatherings of knowledge.

Seeking knowledge is one of the most encouraged virtues in Islam. The first revealed verse of the Holy Quran is the command "Read!" demonstrating the central place of knowledge in Islam. Prophet Muhammad emphasized the obligation of knowledge by saying: "Seeking knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim."
The value of knowledge and scholars is emphasized in many verses of the Holy Quran. In Surah Az-Zumar: "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" In Surah Al-Mujadilah: "Allah raises in rank those among you who believe and those who have been given knowledge."
Islamic civilization experienced golden ages through the value it placed on knowledge. The House of Wisdom in Baghdad, the universities of Andalusia, and the Ottoman madrasas were centers of learning. Ibn Sina in medicine, Al-Khwarizmi in mathematics, and Ibn al-Haytham in optics were pioneers.
Today, every Muslim should adopt seeking knowledge as a lifelong goal. Instilling a love for knowledge in children, encouraging reading, and developing an inquisitive mindset are among the most important duties of families.
