Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today we discuss sincerity – ikhlas – the soul of all worship. Allah says: "And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, being sincere to Him in religion." (Al-Bayyinah, 98:5)

Without sincerity, even the greatest acts of worship lose their value. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah does not look at your forms or your wealth, but He looks at your hearts and your deeds." (Muslim)

Purifying Our Intentions

Ikhlas means doing everything solely for the pleasure of Allah, without seeking praise, recognition, or worldly benefit. It means praying because we love Allah, giving charity because we want to please Him, and seeking knowledge for His sake.

The Prophet (pbuh) warned about the danger of hidden shirk – doing good deeds to impress people (riya). He said: "The thing I fear most for you is minor shirk – showing off." (Ahmad). Let us constantly examine our intentions and purify them. A small deed done with sincerity is better than a great deed done for show. May Allah grant us ikhlas in all our worship. Amin.
