Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today we discuss the remembrance of Allah – dhikr – the nourishment of the soul. Allah says: "Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest." (Ar-Ra'd, 13:28). And: "Remember Me, and I will remember you." (Al-Baqarah, 2:152)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The example of the one who remembers his Lord compared to the one who does not is like the living compared to the dead." (Bukhari)

Making Dhikr a Habit

Dhikr is not limited to sitting after prayer with a tasbih. It is a state of constant awareness of Allah throughout our day. Saying "Bismillah" before eating, "Alhamdulillah" after a blessing, "SubhanAllah" at the beauty of creation, and "Astaghfirullah" when we err – these are all forms of remembrance.

The Prophet (pbuh) would remember Allah at all times. His tongue was always moist with dhikr. Let us revive this beautiful practice in our daily lives. A heart connected to Allah through dhikr is a heart that finds peace in chaos and strength in difficulty. May Allah make us among those who remember Him abundantly. Amin.
