Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today we reflect on the virtue of forgiveness – one of Allah's most beautiful attributes and a quality He loves to see in His servants. Allah says: "Let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allah should forgive you?" (An-Nur, 24:22)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah does not increase a servant who pardons except in honor." (Muslim). Forgiveness is not weakness; it is the ultimate strength – the ability to let go of anger and resentment for the sake of Allah.

The Liberation of Forgiveness

When we forgive, we free ourselves from the prison of grudges. Holding onto anger harms us more than it harms the other person. The Prophet (pbuh) was the most forgiving person. When he conquered Makkah, he pardoned all those who had persecuted him, saying: "Go, for you are free."

Allah is Al-Ghafoor (The Most Forgiving) and loves to forgive. He says: "Say: O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins." (Az-Zumar, 39:53). Let us forgive others as we hope Allah will forgive us. May Allah forgive us all. Amin.
