Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today, on this blessed day of Jumu'ah, let us reflect on the significance of Friday itself. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On it Adam was created, on it he was admitted to Paradise, and on it he was expelled from it." (Muslim)
Friday is a weekly Eid for the Muslim ummah. Allah says: "O you who believe, when the call for prayer on Friday is made, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade." (Al-Jumu'ah, 62:9)
Making the Most of Friday
The Prophet (pbuh) encouraged us to prepare for Friday: perform ghusl, wear clean clothes, use fragrance, come early to the mosque, and listen attentively to the khutbah. He also said: "There is an hour on Friday during which a Muslim, while praying, asks Allah for something, and Allah grants it to him." (Bukhari and Muslim)
Let us send abundant blessings upon the Prophet on this day, recite Surah Al-Kahf, and make abundant dua. May Allah accept our Friday worship and grant us its blessings. Amin.
