Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today we discuss the duty of enjoining good and forbidding evil – amr bil ma'ruf wa nahy anil munkar. Allah says: "You are the best nation produced for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah." (Al Imran, 3:110)

This is not just a recommendation; it is a collective responsibility. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand. If he cannot, then with his tongue. If he cannot, then with his heart – and that is the weakest of faith." (Muslim)

Wisdom in Calling to Good

Allah instructs: "Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best." (An-Nahl, 16:125). We must call to good with kindness, patience, and wisdom – not with harshness or judgment.

Start with yourself and your family, then extend to your community. A society that abandons this duty invites Allah's displeasure. May Allah make us among those who enjoin good and forbid evil with wisdom. Amin.
