Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches, we have a unique opportunity to break free from the chains of addiction and harmful habits. Allah says: "O you who believe! Intoxicants, gambling, idols, and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid them." (Al-Ma'idah, 5:90)
Addiction is a disease that enslaves a person, trapping them in false happiness and temporary pleasures. Whether it is substance abuse, smoking, gambling, or digital addiction, these habits damage our health, destroy families, and distance us from Allah.
Ramadan: A Month of Liberation
Ramadan provides the perfect framework for breaking harmful habits. When we fast from dawn to dusk, we train our willpower and learn to resist temptation. The discipline of fasting, combined with increased prayer and Quran recitation, creates a powerful shield against destructive behaviors.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Fasting is a shield." (Bukhari). Let us use this shield to protect ourselves and our loved ones. If you or someone you know struggles with addiction, Ramadan is the time to seek help, make a fresh start, and turn to Allah with sincere repentance.
May Allah free us from all forms of bondage and make this Ramadan a turning point in our lives. Amin.
