Rules of Following the Imam

There are specific rules for following the imam when praying in congregation. Fundamental Rules: 1. Intention and Takbir: - The intention must include the phrase "following the imam." - The takbir is taken after the imam. 2. Following the Imam: - The imam is followed in every movement. - No pillar (rukn) is performed before the imam. 3. Recitation Rules: - While the imam recites, the congregation remains silent (Hanafi). - When the imam says "Sami'allahu liman hamidah," the congregation says "Rabbana lakal-hamd." 4. Late Arrival Situations: Masbuq (One who arrives late): - If one catches the ruku', that rak'ah is counted as complete. - After the imam gives salam, one stands up and completes the missed rak'ahs. Lahiq (One who had to leave temporarily): - One who had to leave due to reasons like invalidation of wudu returns and rejoins the imam. - The missed portion is completed after the imam finishes. 5. Row Formation: - Rows should be straight and closely arranged. - Standing alone in a row is makruh (disliked).
