Tarawih prayer is a mu'akkadah (emphasized) sunnah prayer performed after the Isha prayer and before the Witr prayer during the month of Ramadan. It consists of 20 rak'ahs (Hanafi).
How to Perform Tarawih Prayer:
It is performed as 20 rak'ahs with salam given every two rak'ahs, totaling 10 salams.
For Every Two Rak'ahs:
1. Make the intention. Take the opening takbir.
2. In the first rak'ah, recite Subhanaka, A'udhu-Bismillah, al-Fatiha, and a surah.
3. Perform ruku' and sujud, then stand up.
4. In the second rak'ah, recite al-Fatiha and a surah.
5. Perform ruku' and sujud.
6. In the final sitting, recite At-Tahiyyatu, the salawat, and Rabbana atina.
7. Give salam.
A rest break (tarwiha) is taken every four rak'ahs (two salams).
After Tarawih prayer, 3 rak'ahs of Witr prayer are performed in congregation.
Important Notes:
- It is performed only during the month of Ramadan.
- Praying in congregation is sunnah, but it can also be performed individually.
