The First Human and First Prophet

Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) is the first human and the first prophet created by Allah on earth. Almighty Allah created him from clay and breathed into him of His own spirit. He commanded the angels to prostrate before Adam, and all the angels obeyed this command except Iblis. Iblis refused to prostrate out of arrogance and was thus cursed. Allah taught Adam all the names and made him superior to the angels. This knowledge formed the foundation of humanity's role as vicegerent on earth. Adam and his wife Hawwa (Eve) began living in Paradise, but they were commanded not to approach the forbidden tree. Tempted by Satan's whispering, Adam and Hawwa ate from the forbidden tree and were sent down from Paradise to earth. However, Adam immediately recognized his mistake and sought forgiveness from Allah. He repented saying, "Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers." The story of Adam teaches humanity many lessons. The door of repentance is always open, arrogance is the greatest sin, the value of knowledge, and the enmity of Satan are the primary messages of this story.
