Goodness and Beauty

Prophet Alyasa (peace be upon him) is one of the prophets sent to the Children of Israel whose name is mentioned twice in the Holy Quran. It is narrated that he assumed the prophetic mission after Ilyas. In Surah Al-An'am, Alyasa is mentioned alongside Ismail, Yunus, and Lut, and it is stated that all of them were favored above the worlds. In Surah Sad, he is mentioned together with Ismail and Dhul-Kifl. Alyasa spread the belief in monotheism among the Children of Israel and continued the struggle against the idol of Ba'l that Ilyas had initiated. One of the important lessons to be drawn from the story of Alyasa is that the prophetic mission continued in a chain and that each prophet carried forward the legacy of his predecessor.
