Prophet of the People of Ad

Prophet Hud (peace be upon him) was the prophet sent to the people of Ad. The people of Ad were a powerful and wealthy community living in the Ahqaf region of southern Arabia after the flood of Nuh. Known for constructing tall buildings and their physical strength, this people gradually forgot Allah and began worshipping idols. Hud invited his people to monotheism and called out to them, "O my people! Worship Allah. You have no god other than Him." However, the leaders of his people denied Hud and boasted, saying, "Who is mightier than us?" The people of Ad persisted in their disbelief despite all of Hud's warnings. Thereupon Allah destroyed them with a fierce wind. This wind blew continuously for seven nights and eight days, devastating the entire people. The story of Hud teaches that material power and wealth cannot save a person, that the end of arrogance is ruin, and that the punishment of Allah is inevitable.
