Ancestor of the Children of Israel

Prophet Ishaq (peace be upon him) was the son of Ibrahim born to his wife Sarah and is the ancestor of the lineage of the Children of Israel. The birth of Ishaq was itself a miracle, for his father Ibrahim was very old and his mother Sarah was both elderly and barren. Allah's messenger angels gave Ibrahim the glad tidings that he would have a son named Ishaq. Ishaq followed in his father's footsteps, continuing the call to monotheism and inviting his people to the oneness of Allah. Ishaq's son was Yaqub (Jacob), and many prophets sent to the Children of Israel descended from this lineage. This chain encompasses a great line of prophets extending from Yusuf, Musa, Dawud, and Sulayman all the way to Isa. The story of Ishaq teaches that Allah's promise will certainly come true and that things which seem impossible are possible before the power of Allah.
