Prophet of Morality and Chastity

Prophet Lut (peace be upon him) was the nephew of Ibrahim and was sent as a prophet to the people living in Sodom and its surrounding cities. The people of Lut had fallen into a depravity never before seen in any society. Lut called his people to abandon these vile acts and warned them of Allah's punishment. However, his people challenged him saying, "If you are telling the truth, then bring us the punishment of Allah." Allah sent His angels to destroy the people of Lut. The angels told Lut to take his family and leave the city at midnight. At dawn the cities were turned upside down, and stones of baked clay were rained upon them. This story is an exemplary account showing the importance of preserving moral values, how depravity leads societies to destruction, and the severity of Allah's punishment.
