Prophet of the Flood and Patience

Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) is one of the most frequently mentioned prophets in the Holy Quran, and a surah is named exclusively after him. As one of the five Ulul-Azm (prophets of great determination), Nuh invited his people to the oneness of Allah for 950 years. The people of Nuh worshipped idols named Wadd, Suwa, Yaghuth, Ya'uq, and Nasr. Nuh called them to believe in Allah day and night, openly and secretly, but they plugged their ears with their fingers and turned away. After this long struggle, Allah commanded Nuh to build an ark. Eventually the great flood began and the earth was covered with water. Nuh took a pair of every living species and the believers onto his ark. After the flood subsided, the ark came to rest on Mount Judi, and Nuh along with the believers descended to earth to make a new beginning. The story of Nuh constitutes one of the greatest examples of patience, determination, and submission to Allah.
