Prophet of the People of Thamud

Prophet Salih (peace be upon him) was the prophet sent to the people of Thamud. The people of Thamud possessed an advanced civilization, living in magnificent homes carved into rocks in a place called Hijr in the Hijaz region. Salih invited his people to believe in Allah and abandon their idols. His people demanded a miracle from him, and by Allah's permission a she-camel emerged from the rock. Salih told his people that this camel was a sign from Allah and that they must not harm it. However, the transgressive members of his people dared to slaughter this miraculous camel of Allah. Salih informed his people that they had been given three days of respite and that punishment would follow. At the end of three days, the people of Thamud were destroyed by a terrible blast and earthquake. The story of Salih reveals the dire consequences of being ungrateful toward the signs of Allah and of transgression.
