Prophet of the People of Midian

Prophet Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) was the prophet sent to the people of Midian and Aykah. Known by the title "Khatib al-Anbiya," meaning the orator of the prophets, Shu'ayb was renowned for his eloquent and effective speech. Shu'ayb invited his people both to believe in Allah and to observe commercial ethics. He warned them, "O my people! Give full measure and weight, do not deprive people of their due, and do not cause corruption in the land." His people denied Shu'ayb and threatened to expel him and the believers from their city. In the end, the people of Midian were destroyed by a violent earthquake, and the people of Aykah were destroyed by the punishment of the "day of shadow." This story demonstrates that commercial ethics is a religious responsibility and that honesty in weights and measures is an inseparable part of faith.
