Supplication and Submission

Prophet Zakariya (peace be upon him) was one of the prophets sent to the Children of Israel and was the father of Yahya. He also took care of Maryam. Every time he entered her chamber, he would find provisions out of season beside her and would ask where they came from. Despite being very old and his wife being barren, Zakariya yearned for a righteous child. He supplicated, "My Lord! Grant me from Yourself a pure offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication." Allah accepted Zakariya's prayer and gave him glad tidings of a son named Yahya. Zakariya was astonished, and Allah said, "This is easy for Me." The story of Zakariya teaches the power of supplication, the infinite power of Allah, and the importance of never losing hope even in old age.
